Why are we different?

Because we focus on the practical, fueled by experience. We have an emphasis on retained learning and capability shifts.

If you don't change what you do after our training - we have failed.

Focus Areas
and Expertise

Training

I have been training for as long as I have been a consultant. I delivered IAP2 training for many years as well as developing and deliverying Master Classes in Deliberative Facilitation for IAP2 Australasia.  I have completed Cert IV training and designed and delivered training for government, non-government and corporate clients in engagement, facilitation, difficult conversations, managing conflict, to name a few.

Across my career, I have supported, mentored and coached those that I have worked with and who worked for me.

In this time I have developed practical skills in helping people align their 'why' - their values and passions - not just with their work but their wider selves.  Careers that don't support you being the partner, parent, carer or person you want to be in the rest of your life are not great careers.

Consulting and engagement

Facilitation

I worked for a range of large and small consultancies, specialising in community engagement, facilitation and strategic advice before starting my own agency, Straight Talk, in 2009.

I have designed and implemented comprehensive, multi-stage engagement programs for large infrastructure; creative and inclusive engagement activities for community and social planning; pioneered engagement methodologies and innovated with deliberative processes, large group processes and workshop design.

I am best known for my facilitation skills, with the gift of being able to stand in the fire and lead clients to have respectful conversations in complex situations - immediately following bushfire, compulsory aquisition of properties, divisive public policy such as managing wild horses.

I also have extensive experience facilitating deliberative engagements, working closely with newDemocracy Foundation to design and run Citizen Juries and Panels.  I have continued this work within the energy sector and local government.

I am one of the leading facilitators for complex, emotion laden issues where authentic conversations and reputational risks need to be managed effectively.

Career Architect

I have been a consultant for over 30 years, establishing my own agency before selling to a multi-national.

I specialised in community engagement and facilitation in contested and contentious environments.  I have spent a lot of time with leaders and teams navigating complex projects, developing strategy and creating authentic dialogue between communities and stakeholders.

I was one of the original small group of founders of IAP2 Australasia and have held positions on both the Australasian and International Boards.

I am a recognised industry leader with a passion for people, great projects and outcomes that make a difference.

This has been recognised in the numerous Awards I have won across my career, including the prestigous IAP2 International Best Practice Award and IAP2 Australasia Best Project Award.
